Service of a Widow's Mite

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:                    4. For all thee have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had. The widow’s mi te – she gave all she could give and that was enough!  What she gave was different from those around her.  It wasn't the normal.  She was looked down on, but yet she gave and it was enough to the Lord. I look at the picture by Sandra Rast and sit in awe.  Here is a woman who is probably physically and mentally exhausted, hungry, discouraged, and trying to figure out how else she can keep going.  Yet she still gives 2 mites to the Lord. How did she find the strength to even go to the temple to give the two mite?...

Is it ok to be different?

 As a teenager, I was different!  Growing up in Alabama there weren't many young members of the church.  There were handful of us the same age, but we were spread out throughout many different schools.  My values were completely different than those of the other kids at my high school.  I dressed different, I acted differently, I spoke differently, and I believed differently then my peers.  This wasn't a bad thing.  In fact, I came to love it!  I came to love the questions people would have for me about my beliefs in God.  I loved people asking me why I didn't drink at parties or why I didn't date till I was 16 yrs old.  I loved being different!!  That was my my talent - to be okay with standing out. As a freshly graduated High School student, I moved to Utah for college.  Initially I still stood out.  I had a strong southern accent and crowds would gather when I talked.  I also acted a little different than the peopl...
