CRPS Therapy Week 5 - The power of a Smile

Abree had a fantastic week last week.  She stayed mainly at 0-1 on the pain scale.  She also was able to go exploring a new little area on Saturday with Zac and it didn't flare her up at all.  We are beyond thrilled at how well she is responding to the therapy! Her favorite therapy is NMR (can't tell you what it stands for because I have no clue).  All I know is the machine works on activating the muscles in the body and teaching the nerves to fire correctly to those muscles, while teaching your to control the response of that muscle.  Hopefully I explained that okay.  It's a pretty intense therapy and she's sore after it, but she said that is where she finds the most relief from her pain and then stays down the remainder of the day.   She also started PIEZO a couple of weeks ago.  It's the therapy focused on breaking down the scar tissue in the body.  After her first day she called me telling me how dirty she felt.  When I asked wh...

CRPS Therapy Week 3 and 4 - A few challenges

It's crazy to think Abree has been gone a month and this Wednesday will be 4 complete weeks at the clinic!  Zac has been out with her these last few weeks.  Here is the update I've had:                 She is loving having one on one time with dad!  They have gone to baseball games, gymnastics meets, singing pitch perfect, and finding the best homes around Fayetteville to go look at. Abree can now officially wear socks with no pain!  Seems silly but for someone with CRPS this is a huge accomplishment.  She can also wear shoes for small amounts of time before the pain starts again.  She has officially accomplished 4 of her goals she set for her self for 4 weeks at the clinic. Wednesday, March 15th was a hard day for Abree.  Zac flew back home to help me with a meet I was hosting this past weekend and my dad went out to stay with Abree.  We aren't sure if her flare up happened from some of the therapy or the s...

CRPS - Week 2 Therapy - God and His amazing tender mercies

God is so good to inspire people and doctors to know how to treat our bodies! Week 2 of therapy brings about many tender mercies from God.  I can see Him everywhere and every day.  He is so merciful and kind! Therapy went really well this week!  There are so many different ways they are working on training the vagus nerve.  Every therapy is meant to calm the nerve or help it know how to send the correct signals to the body.  It's so amazing!!  I'm so thankful to all the people who have spent hours on end studying the vagus nerve and how it works. Abree was able to get down to 0 pain on one of the therapies and hold it for a couple of hours.  The light in her eyes came back!!   Isn't it crazy how in tune our bodies our?!  When something is out of wack with our body it shows and a lot of time it shows in our spirit.   I knew she was struggling but seeing the light come back into her eyes helped me even more know we are in the rig...
