Unite in Christ

"He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." ~ 2 Nephi 26:33

This week I came to a realization in my life that I needed to be and do more.  The riots and protests going on awoke my spiritual sense in a way that shook my core.  Don't get me wrong, protests are good.  People need their voice to be heard.  It's not healthy to sit back in silence.  But the riots - UNEXCEPTABLE!  Our free agency is one of the most precious gifts we have received from God.  We don't need to force others to take our stance.  We don't need to physically beat someone or destroy something for people to see and hear us.  We need to follow the example of Christ and invite others to hear and see the inequality that is going on.  We need to invite others to walk in our shoes so they can show empathy to what you have passed through.  Inviting and allowing people to exercise their agency is the best way to accomplish our missions in life.  Christ understood that!  He never imposed his beliefs on others.  He healed people because they asked him to.  He taught people when they would gather and wait for his teachings.  He taught in parables as a way to invite those ready to hear His message the opportunity to grow and learn.  But he never imposed or punished those who chose not to hear or follow Him.  He only ever continued to invite!

There is no better day then today to know Christ!  But when I say know him, I don't mean know about Him.  I mean, feel him in your very soul!  Christ is real!  He is more then a story in the Bible.  He is living us on a daily basis.  He is inviting us to "Come unto Him".  He wants us to KNOW Him.  He wants us to feel Him.  He wants us to recognize His hand in our lives.

We come to know Christ when we follow the spirit, as it leads us to apply Christ's atonement in our lives.  I came to know Christ when I was a young gymnast terrified of the skills I was being asked to do.  I felt him encourage and strengthen me to be able to do them.  I came to know Christ in a lonely BYU dorm room my first year away from home.  He comforted me, loved me, and encouraged me to keep moving forward, even though I wasn't making the smartest choices on my own.  I came to know Christ as I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil as a 21 yrs old.  Through much fasting and studying he would testify through me to his people of how much he cared for them.  I came to know Christ as my body showed it's mortality during and after pregnancies.  My physical body was weak, but through Christ, my spirit was strengthen and I learned I could do more with Him then without Him.  I came to know Christ when I miscarried my 3rd child at 18 weeks old.  Christ comforted me and helped me understand that I would be with my little boy again.  I continue to know Christ with every trial that comes my way.  And with every hard thing I pass through, no matter how dark it may be, I accept His invitation and turn to Him for strength.

No matter what, or who we are in life, we WILL have hard trials to face.  Some may be completely unfair and by someone else's wrong doing.  Our scars may be deep.  Our frustration and distain may be completely valid.  But only through Christ can we be healed!  Only through his atonement can we be made whole and the injuries and scars diminish.  Only through Christ's can we love ALL people on the earth.  Only through Christ will the world be healed!  Through Christ we accept his invitation to be more then we can be on our own.  Only through Christ can we stand side by side with a person and lift them, that things may be made right in their lives.

The purpose of my blog is not for fame or recognition.  My purpose is the take a stand.  My purpose is to invite others to accept Christ in their lives and become the person they were meant to be in this life!  My purpose is to help a thought progress into something more for you.  I am a simple mother and business owner.  My degree was in physical education and not in writing.  My words may come out jumbled or misspelled, but I believe that with God's help, you may be led to act.  I believe that one thought can propel someone to be better.  I hope that I can spark the kindling in your hearts for the fire of Christ to burn more brightly.  I hope that through your fire we can all help the world UNITE IN CHRIST!

Marriage Lessons from the Pickleball Court

My parents and sisters LOVE pickleball!  I enjoy it and am getting better every time I play, I just don't have time to play that often.  But as I sat on the court waiting for my turn to rotate in on a game, I was inspired with some lessons.    Marriage Lessons from the Pickleball Court: 1.  Communication is KEY !   If you don't talk to your partner, you won't be as successful as you could be.  You could luck out and have a partner that reads your body language and knows how to watch your moves so they can cover for you, but that is extra work on their part.  They can only keep that up for a short time.  Sooner or later one of you is going to get hurt or miss the ball. Communication is extremely important in marriage!  You have to be able to openly talk to your spouse. During one of the games we were playing my sister and I didn't communicate about who was going to get the ball so we both went after it.  As we did so I could see...

His will over mine

We moved to Arkansas and Abree is doing treatments again at The Spero Clinic.  Not the expected outcome, but it is what it is. But how grateful I am that we have a place to go to receive help. Abree was doing fantastic when we last left.  She couldn't return to sports or physical activity but we were ok with that knowing she wasn't in pain.  I thought maybe in time she could return to sports.  But then within a few weeks of school starting, the pain came back and she began having pain spikes up to 10.  We weren't too worried at first.  We knew she just needed some time to adjust to the stress of school and figured it would calm back down as the year went on.  We continued with treatments online and she would have days were it got a little better, but overall she was still living in a constant state of 5-6 on the pain scale.  She figured out how to put a smile on her face but Zac and I were a little concerned. In December we took her back for her 2...

CRPS Therapy Continued at home

The weeks just kind of flew by at the end and I didn't even stay caught up.  After week 8, Abree kept making great improvements.  We were able to fly home a few times to see the family and it didn't seem to affect her healing at all.  By 13 weeks she was able to graduate and come home!!  We got home just in time for Hunter's graduation from high school.   The day we found out she could go home she had a spike of pain.  I immediately was worried and started stressing that going home wasn't the right thing.  But as Abree and I talked about the pain, she was able to realize it was more pain from fear of going home.  It's completely understandable.  For weeks her only focus was learning how to get her pain down and rest.  Coming home meant she had to go back to normal life and actually have responsibilities again.  As she recognized the pain for what it was, fear, she was able to feel a decrease in the pain and move forward. Fear i...
