The Olympics have finally begun!! We've been waiting for them anxiously for over a year now.
I love watching the talent of all the athletes fight for their dreams! These athletes are the BEST OF THE BEST! There talent is amazing! The drive and fight of each of these athletes is beyond impressive.
I love learning about the sacrifices the families had to make to get their athlete to this point.
I love seeing them mentally prepare themselves the moment before the competition.
I love watching the sportsmanship of athletes cheering for each other, especially when an athlete does something far beyond everyone else's capability.
I love hearing the announcers as someone breaks a world record.
I love watching an athlete who has an unfortunate competition still smile and be grateful for the opportunity to be there.
And most of all I absolutely LOVE watching the athletes on the podium stand get emotional as they take in the fact that not only did they make it to the Olympics, but they were able to successfully win the Olympics. I cry every time with them! It is touching and heart warming because even though we haven't been there every step of the way, we know they journey hasn't been easy. It in some way is our way of saying, I'm so proud of you and every sacrifice you made was definitely worth this moment.
In the Olympics only 1 person can take home the Gold in each sport. And so it's the cut throat competition to see who can outscore the other athletes through physical and mental talent. And because I'm an extremely competitive person, I LOVE the Olympics!
Because I am naturally competitive, and seem to live in a competitive state, I have to constantly remind myself is that life is not the Olympics. Too often I find myself in competition with those around me worried that they are going to beat me back to heaven. Somehow I forget reality of what life is about and get it all mixed up with the competitiveness of sports.
This Olympics has been different for me. It's made me see things in a little new life. I actually find myself rooting for the person who normally wouldn't win. I hope that my cheering can help them do just a little better than what they did coming into the Olympics. I find myself a little sad that everyone can't win. And if you know me, you know that is the craziest thought for me! I'm very against everyone getting a ribbon attitude. I believe you need to work for it. But yet, watching the games this year, with the exception of the USA women skateboarders (sorry but it was a little rough), I want everyone to win.
This new attitude shift has me focused on how amazing God's grace is!
There won't be only 1 winner in Heaven. We ALL can make it back!
He won't just be loving 1 person, but he loves ALL of us!
He isn't just cheering for 1 person, He cheers for EACH and EVERY one of us!
He doesn't just accept the perfect into his kingdom, He accepts everyone who is honestly trying!
God's game of life is the best sport we can every participate in! It's the best laid out game there will ever be. It has the most perfect plan to win. It has the perfect coach - Jesus Christ. It has the least subjective judging with no impartial judge to do the judging. It has the most amount of cheerleaders supporting the game. And it is the only game that EVERY ONE who plays has the possibility to win with a gold medal!
Just like any sport, life will be an extremely hard journey! It takes work and work ethic, sacrifice, perseverance, endurance, patience, mental preparedness, willingness to work through the pain, and desire to fight no matter what. When we set the goal, and work at all cost to make it through life the best possible, leaning on Christ as our coach, you will be accepted into heaven. And just as we see those Olympic athletes take the first place podium stand, the emotions will be uncontrollable! It will be the greatest joy that we can every experience. We will know that we did all we could and relied on Christ for the rest and that was enough!
Have you set your goal for life?! Do you keep the end in mind? Do you give it all you have, knowing that Christ will make up the difference? Do you trust that is enough? And do you believe you can make it back to God?
If you've answered no to any of these questions, it's time to get on your knees! You are already in the game, but it isn't too late. Ask for help! Ask for desire! As for the qualities that are going to help you push yourself to keep moving forward.
We are all here cheering you on! YOU CAN DO THIS!
THE GOLD IS YOURS!!!
